You want your sunglasses to be as flattering as possible. Did you know that choosing frames by color can actually complement your face? We’ve already discussed which frames are best for your face shape, but now let’s address the color. Suitable sunglasses color choices are most often determined by your skin temperature. In other words, whether your skin tone is warm or cool in tone.

How do you determine if your skin is warm or cool?

In natural daylight, examine the undertone of the skin on the underside of your arm. Those with cool toned skin tend to have a pink or rosy undertone and bluish veins; while those with warm toned skin have a golden or apricot undertone and greenish veins.

In terms of sunglasses (and clothing), cool toned wearers should gravitate towards frames in blue-based hues; while warm toned wearers should look for yellow-based hues.

Sunglasses Suggestions for “Cool” Skin Tones

Blue, pink, plum, magenta, tortoise, green, silver and black frames or lenses are most suitable for cool skin tones.

Example: Angelina Jolie, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz
